Hall of Honor
Robert Sommers was a member of the Wildcat cross country and track and field programs from 1989-1992. Sommers finished in the Top-10 of the NCCAA during the 1990, 1991, and 1992 seasonings, finishing as high as sixth place with a time of 24:51, a program record that stood until 1998. He achieved NCCAA All-American status in 1990, 91, and 92 while also earning NAIA All-American honors in 1991 and 1992. He led the Wildcats to a Mid-Central Conference Championship in 1990, 1991, and 1992 taking finishing first overall in 1990 and Runner-up finish in 1992. He capped off his cross-country career being named the 1992 NCCAA Wheeler award winner. On the track and field side, Summers earned All-Conference all four years, All-District and NCCAA All-American honors his sophomore, junior, and senior season. His success off the course earned him NAIA Scholar-Athlete, for which he was recognized on four occasions. He capped off is senior season being name Indiana Wesleyan’s Outstanding Male Performer.
