The 2007 IWU Women's Basketball team made history, claiming IWU’s first team National Championship and becoming the first team in NAIA Women's Basketball to win the title without a blemish on their record, finishing the season 38-0. It was just the third time in the history of Women's College Basketball a team finished the season undefeated. The team dominated the competition in Sioux City, Iowa outscoring their opponents 332-211 in the NAIA National Tournament. Lead by NAIA All-American and Mid-Central Conference Player of the Year Liz Howerth and Mid-Central Conference Coach of the Year Steve Brooks, the Wildcats held their opponents to 46 points-per-game, suitable for fewest in the country. In addition the Wildcats ranked No. 1 in the country in total rebound defense, assist/turnover ratio, and scoring margin. Howerth averaged an IWU high 20 points-per-game and seven rebounds while Sarah McGill was second on the team, adding 11 points-per-game. The Wildcats boasted five NAIA Scholar-Athletes while the team posted a 3.6 GPA.
