Hall of Honor
The 2014 Men's Basketball team holds an esteemed place in the IWU Athletics Hall of Honor. This extraordinary team etched their names in history by securing the program's first-ever NAIA National Championship. With unwavering determination and skill, they defeated Midland University, prevailing with a remarkable score of 78-68. Notably, all five of their tournament victories were achieved by double digits, an accomplishment unprecedented since the tournament's inception in 1992. Their exceptional 31-6 overall record during that season stood as the most wins in program history at the time. IWU also won their sixth consecutive Crossroads League regular season championship with a 15-3 record in league play. The team's success was further illuminated with four Wildcats earning All-Crossroads League honors, along with Jordan Weidner and RJ Mahurin being named NAIA All-Americans. Guiding this extraordinary squad to victory was Greg Tonagel, whose remarkable leadership earned him NABC/NAIA Division II Coach of the Year honors and his fifth Crossroads League Coach of the Year accolade.
