Graduating Class of 1997

A member of the women’s tennis and basketball teams from 1993-1997, Deb Porter made a mark on both record books. As a member of the tennis team, Porter graduated with a singles record of 86-6 and a doubles record of 72-9. A four-year Mid-Central College Conference Champion in both singles and doubles play, Porter posted a perfect 75-0 record in conference, state, and regional play. A 1994-95 NAIA All-American, Porter made four trips to the NAIA National Tournament posting a record of 11-8. Transitioning to the hardwood, Porter still ranks top-5 in women’s basketball history in points scored (1,872, second), made free throws (464, second), field goals made (669, fourth), rebounds (1,006, third) and offensive rebounds (431, first). She is just one of three players to score over 1,000 points while also grabbing over 1,000 rebounds. Her 40 points scored against Michigan-Dearborn is still a program best in a single game. A four-year All-MCC Player, Porter graduated with a career field goal percentage of 52% while making 79% of her free throws. Additionally, Porter was named NAIA and NCCAA Academic All-American on multiple occasions.
