As a member of the men’s golf team from 2006-2010, Austin Conroy boasted a career scoring average of 74.38. Conroy collected 83-birdies his senior season, still an IWU record. His score of 66 is good for the fourth-lowest score in program history, while he still holds the 54-hole record with a 210. His 3.07 par 3 scoring average and 27 rounds at par or better still rank number one in program history. Conroy, a three-time NCCAA All-American, helped the Wildcats win the 2006 NCCAA National Golf Championship. In 2007, Conroy led the Wildcats to the program’s first Mid-Central College Conference Championship in ten years. In that championship tournament, Conroy fired off a 210, winning the MCC Medalist honor as the top individual scorer. He finished his career with two All-Conference awards. Conroy’s 2009-2010 scoring average of 73 paced the Wildcats to an NAIA ranking of 12th in the nation which is still the highest-ranking ever achieved in program history. Conroy capped off his career being named an NAIA All-American, as well as representing Team USA at the World University Games in Spain, an honor just three NAIA players received. Conroy carried his success into his coaching role, leading the Wildcats from 2014-2016, winning the 2014 Crossroads League Championship, and helping his squads advance to the NAIA National Championships twice. He matched his ten wins as a player with ten team wins during his tenure as head coach.
