Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University women's soccer team tallied 30 shots on Saturday afternoon in a 2-0 shutout victory over host Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana.
The Wildcats out-shot the Lancers 30-6 in the match and put 14 shot on goal.
Despite a 16-3 advantage in shots during the first half, the two team entered halftime with a 0-0 draw.
Indiana Wesleyan dented the scoreboard early in the second half as freshman Kristine Perrine beat the Lancer keep in the 51st minute of action. IWU continued to pressure the Grace defense but could not score again until a late insurance goal in the 90th minute by sophomore Megan Marshall, who was assisted on the goal by Becca Mathews.
Wildcat senior Melissa Gingerich earned the shutout in goal as she collected four saves.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 5-1-0 this season and 1-0-0 in the Mid-Central College Conference. Grace tumbles to 5-4-0 overall and 0-1-0 in the MCC.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the pitch at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, September 30, as the Wildcats host MCC rival Taylor (Ind.) University.
