GREENTOWN, IND. - Indiana Wesleyan Men's Tennis played an inspired match against a UPIKE team receiving votes for the top 25. Playing their best tennis of the year, they swept the doubles in dominating fashion. Led by the 6-1 win at no. 1 by Gray/Trento and the point clinch by Fischer/Clerc, the Wildcat men set themselves up for an opportunity to upset the visitors.
In singles, UPIKE quickly won at no. 1 and no. 2 singles to take a 2-1 lead in the match.
Leif Clerc tied the match with a straight set win at no. 3 singles. After losing at no.5 singles,
Valentino Trento came back from a set down to win a thrilling third set super tiebreaker. With the match tied 3-3, no. 6
Riley Fuqua got down a set and knew he held the match on his racquet. Fuqua battled through the second set and sent the entire match to his super tiebreaker. In the tiebreaker he start out with a 3-0 and 6-4 lead and each time the UPIKE player would find a way to come back to even it up. The third time Fuqua got ahead he had his first match and match clinching point. Pulling an old school trick out of his hat Fuqua, for the first all match, he served and volleyed hitting an incredible forehand volley for the match.
