MARION, Ind. - Esports officially wrapped up their Fall postseason this week with both Valorant and Rocket League playing in their final conference tournament matches.
No. 1 seeded Valorant faced off in the Conference Championship against #6 Charleston Southern, a team who had already upset the #2 and #3 seeds. The Wildcats started off strong after a 13-11 win on Bind. But it was all CSU from there, as they won the final three maps. The Wildcats finished 2nd, which is the highest finish during a Fall semester for any Wildcat team. If history repeats itself, the Wildcats will be in for an even better Spring season!
For No. 2 Rocket League, they took on #8 Carthage in the 3
rd place game. Nationals points were on the line, so both teams still tried their best despite not being able to win the conference. In a similar finish as the Valorant team, the Wildcats won the first game and then lost 4 straight, finishing with a 1-4 loss.
The hotly contested Spring Season will kick off in late January/Early February. You won't want to miss any of the action, so make sure you follow us on twitch at twtich.tv/IWU_Esports
Standout Wildcats
- Valorant lost despite the best efforts from stat leader Evan "Pokevan" Stoller who had a career performance for the Wildcats. He was the only team member to have a .500 or above KDA on every map and his 37 eliminations are the most all-time for the Wildcats in a regulation length map (24 rounds or less).
- Jeb "Drybbles" Byrd continued his fantastic season with some solid games against Carthage. He led all players with 814 points in game 5.
