MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan baseball head coach
Rich Benjamin will step down at the end of this year after eight seasons leading the program. Benjamin has accepted the position of Athletic Director at Missessinewa High School and will begin his new role at the conclusion of this season.
"We are so thankful for the work that Rich has done and continues to do within our IWU baseball program," said Deane Webb, Athletic Director. "He is a gifted and natural discipler, and I have walked into many conversations in our building between Rich and baseball players where Godly wisdom and love were shared. He is a great coach, but an even better leader. I believe he will do an outstanding job as the Mississinewa High School Athletic Director. Even though I am sad to see him leave our department, I am thankful that he will still be in the area. We hope and pray all the best for Rich and his family as he follows God's clear calling on his life."

"IWU has been one of the most impactful experiences in my professional career," said
Rich Benjamin. "Thank you to VP Mark DeMichael, who brought me here eight years ago, and former president Dr. David Wright. In addition, to AD Deane Webb and Dr. Kulaga, who have transitioned into those leadership roles during my time at IWU."
Benjamin has coached three NAIA All-Americans, 39 All-Crossroads League recipients, nine Crossroads League Gold Glove Team recipients, one Crossroads League Player of the Year, and one Crossroads League Newcomer of the Year. Benjamin established excellence in the classroom as well with 33 Crossroads League All-Academic honorees and two CSC Academic All-Americans.
"I've been blessed to work with great assistant coaches and to have the support of our alumni," continued Benjamin. "Above all, I'm thankful to each person who choose to play baseball and be transformed at Indiana Wesleyan University. Our players deep care for each other and commitment to getting better in all aspects of life gave me energy every day. I look forward to watching the program attain new heights."
