MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University Baseball has announced the hiring of Kyle Baker as an assistant coach for the program.

"I'm excited to welcome Kyle Baker to our staff," said Head Coach Mathew Bair. "Kyle is a great fit for IWU Baseball. He loves the game, is a relentless recruiter, and is passionate about developing players. Most importantly, he cares deeply about investing in the spiritual growth of young men, and I'm looking forward to what we will build together."

Baker joins the Wildcats after serving as an assistant coach at Manchester University since December 2022. In 2025, Manchester won the HCAC tournament advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013. The 2025 team also posted a .335 batting average which is 6th in Manchester baseball history and 16th in the rankings of all NCAA Division III teams for the season. Since the 2023 season, there has been 2 All-Region players, 1 All- American, 3 Second team All-Conference, 2 First team All-Conference, 3 Honorable Mention All-Conference.

"I am blessed and grateful for the opportunity to join Indiana Wesleyan University," said Baker. "It's an honor to be part of such a great university and baseball program. IWU's commitment to excellence in every area is something I'm excited to embrace. I look forward to contributing to the continued growth of the program and investing in the student-athletes who choose to wear the Wildcat uniform."

In his first year with the Spartans, Baker helped lead Manchester back to the 2023 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) baseball tournament after finishing the regular season with an overall record of 21-18, and a 12-10 record in conference play.

In the summer of 2025, Baker coached in the Great Lakes Summer Collegiate League (GLSCL) with the Lima Locos. The Locos consisted of NCAA Division 1 players from across the nation. The Locos posted a record of 27-12 during the regular season leading them to be the #1 seed in the playoffs. They then went on to win the GLSCL Championship Series.

Baker graduated from the University of Saint Francis in Fort Wayne, Ind. (USF) with a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in Sports Management in May of 2018. During his time as a Cougar, Baker was a three-year member of the baseball program, where his primary position was catcher.
