Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 MARION, IND. -  Indiana Wesleyan baseball dropped two games to Grant County Rival Taylor on Friday. Game one was a back and forth affair, the Trojans took an early 4-0 lead but the Wildcats responded with 5 runs later in the inning to take a 5-4 lead. Taylor added 3 runs in the 8th inning and 1 in the 9th which was the difference in the game as IWU fell 10-9. The Trojans held the Wildcats to only 5 hits in game two, taking the 7-1 victory.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• Taylor scored 3 runs in the 2nd inning and 1 run in the 3rd inning, taking an early lead.
• Jeff Morton got IWU on the board with a solo homerun in the 3rd. Ty Mathews added 2 more runs for the Wildcats with a 2 run homer that also scored Lucas Goodin. Jake Thompson singled and an error from the center fielder allowed him to round all the bases, giving IWU a 5-4 lead.
• Taylor tied the game in the 4th with 1 run. Jeff Morton hit his second homer of the game to put IWU back on top.
• The Trojans added 4 runs across the 8th and 9th innings to regain the lead.
• Evan Salmon hit a 2 run homer to give the Wildcats life, but were unable to score the tying run.
• Four pitchers saw action on the mound, combining for 9 strikeouts, 14 hits, and 10 runs.

 

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

 

• The Trojans scored a run in the 2nd, 4th, and 6th inning and added 3 in the 7th to take a 7-0 lead into the bottom of the final inning.
• Quinn Willard scored on a Jake Thompson sacrifice grounder.
• Bryce Ginder led the Wildcats with 2 hits.
• Evan Fry pitched the first 6 innings, recording 8 strikeouts, 5 hits, and 4 earned runs.
