MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Baseball is excited to announce that Pitching Coach/Recruiting Coordinator
Ian MacDonald has been promoted to Associate Head Coach after just one season leading the Wildcat pitchers.
"I would like to thank Coach Benjamin, Athletic Director
Deane Webb, and Vice President Mark DeMichael for the opportunity to continue serving our program, department, and university in this new role," MacDonald said. "I am appreciative of their trust and belief in me - in addition to their ongoing commitment to the continued growth of our baseball program. I believe whole heartedly in the student-athlete experience here at IWU. It is a place where our players are challenged to grow spiritually, academically, and athletically. I believe in our players and coaching staff and I am excited about our program's future."
In his first season at IWU, MacDonald helped junior pitcher
Hunter Hoffman to his second 1st Team All-Crossroads League award, and pitcher
Jake Engelkes to COSIDA Academic All-American honors. MacDonald has played a huge role in the recruiting efforts of the Wildcats, helping land five Indiana North/South All-Stars in the 2022 class and four PBR Top-50 players in Indiana. In addition to No. 51 Tate Warner and No. 57 Nick Wiley, who led Indiana in homeruns in the spring of 2022.
"Ian's impact at IWU has been felt and witnessed on and off the field. His care for others, work ethic, and skill for the position are evident to those that work with him. He checks every box on what it means to do your job with excellence in alignment with the Mission and Values of IWU," said
Rich Benjamin, Head Baseball Coach. "A tireless recruiter, the 2022 recruiting class is one of the top classes in the state of Indiana. In addition, Ian's ability to connect interpersonally and skillfully with the pitching staff allows for relationship depth and pitching development. It's an honor to recognize him as Associate Head Coach at Indiana Wesleyan University."
