SOFTBALL CLAIMS CROSSROADS LEAGUE REGULAR SEASON TITLE OUTRIGHT FOR FIRST TIME SINCE 2005

MARION, Ind. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan softball claimed the Crossroads League Regular Season for the first time since 2005. Wildcats were named Co-Champions in 2020/21 with Marian and 2005/06 with Bethel. A few things had to shake out for the Wildcats to claim title outright on the last day of conference play, but the Wildcats claimed three victories on the day and secured the title.  Wildcats finished the regular season 46-8 and 31-5 in conference play.

  • Game two played on April 5 was halted in the bottom of the sixth and finished play this afternoon.
  • Wildcats won 13-9 featured by IWU out hitting the Cougars 14-5.
  • Chloe Tragesser shined in the game batting in five runs. Tragesser and Kamryn Buck each hit homers during the contest.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS


 

  • Wildcats bats were striking connecting on 14 hits. Tragesser led the way with three of her own.
  • Tragesser, Miranda Wehrle, and Julianne Bell each hit doubles.
  • Wildcats posted eight RBIs.
  • Alyssa Wagner pitched a complete game striking out seven.

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS


 
  • Scoring took place for both teams in the fourth inning as Cougars went up 2-1 before Wildcats responded that same inning scoring on an error.
  • It all came down to the bottom of the seventh inning as Wildcats had only mustered up one hit before Trinity Medina hit a double. She stole third as Buck was up to bat. Buck launched a bomb over the fence sending in the game winning run. Wildcats walked off with a 3-2 victory.
  • Wildcats were outhit 6-5 and both teams collected two RBIs.
  • Emma Etter-Cox pitched a complete game for the Wildcats.

POST SEASON PLAY


 
  • Wildcats clinched the No. 1 seed in the Crossroads League Tournament. IWU will face No. 8 Spring Arbor University on Wednesday at 10am at Grand Park.
