Sue Bowman was a pioneer for women in the collegiate coaching realm. In a time when there were few women in the coaching ranks, Bowman flourished as the head coach of the Indiana Wesleyan women’s basketball, women’s field hockey, women’s softball, and women’s track and field teams. Bowman won 585 games as the head softball coach and won the 1980 women’s field hockey state championship. She coached at Indiana Wesleyan for 42 years from 1970-2011.
“Sue Bowman stood for victory on and off the court in recruiting and in coaching almost all of our women’s sports. She was able to connect with her athletes and create many loyal alumni.” -- Dr. Mike Fratzke, former Indiana Wesleyan Athletic Director
