MARION, Ind. - No. 8 Indiana Wesleyan softball escaped two close games in a doubleheader against Grace College. Wildcats won both game one and game two in slim victories 2-1. IWU moves to 41-7 on the season and 26-4 in conference play. Wildcats currently continue a 19-game win streak over the Lancers.

GAME ONE HIGHLIGHTS

 

• Scoreless first five innings, Lancers were the first to get on the board in the bottom of the sixth. Wildcats responded in the top of the inning with a Elisa Koshy single sending in Becca Wyatt.
• Avoiding extra innings in the top of the seventh, Wyatt singled to right field to advance Chloe Tragesser to home scoring the deciding run and ending the game.
• Wildcats recorded seven hits including two from each Jennah Yost and Wyatt.
• Alyssa Wagner pitched a complete game giving up one hit and striking out 10.

  

GAME TWO HIGHLIGHTS

 

• Wildcats got on the board in the second inning off a Kamryn Buck double scoring Wyatt. Lancers responded in the third tying the game 1-1.
• In the top of the sixth inning an Abby Harvey single scored Alayna Thomas giving the Wildcats a 2-1 lead heading into the last inning of play.
• In the bottom of the seventh with two outs, a Lancer hit landed in center field in front of Julianne Bell who threw all the way home to Makenzie Swango to tag the runner out as she was sliding into home. Wildcats escaped with a 2-1 victory.
• Lancers outhit the Wildcats 7-4. Four different Wildcats recorded a hit.

 

NEXT TIME OUT

 

• Wildcats continue chasing the Crossroads League Regular Season title on Thursday, April 28 at Taylor University. Double header is scheduled to begin at 4:30pm.
