FORT WAYNE, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan baseball traveled to Fort Wayne, Indiana Monday wrapping up their three-game series with the Cougars of Saint Francis. The Wildcats would complete the series sweep over USF, winning game three 14-11. The Wildcats used a big fourth and ninth inning in the win, each consisting of four runs.   

The Wildcats move to 9-8 on the season and 3-0 in Crossroads League play.

INSIDE THE BOX

• Max Engstrom worked out of a first-inning jam, stranding all three runners on base. Two of the three outs came by strikeouts in inning one. He finished the game with four strikeouts, a career-high.
• IWU collected eight runs on ten hits in the first four innings of play. IWU finished the game with 14 runs on 15 hits.
• 29 total runners were stranded on base with USF leaving 17 Cougars stranded.
• The Wildcats sent five balls over the outfield fence, with Miguel Fernandez and Chris Lopex collecting their first as Wildcats. Tanner Killian brought his season home run total to five while Denver Blinn collected his fourth and Tye Thixton collected his third of the season.
• Lucas Goodin and Blinn each finished the game with an IWU best three hits, while Fernandez led the team with 4 RBI.
• Parker Johnson threw for 4.1 innings in relief posting six strikeouts, a season and career-high.

BENJAMIN PERSPECTIVE

• Really proud of our fight today. We played over some adversity that we created early and won a lot of at-bats. Parker Johnson stayed after it in his work on the mound.
