FORT WAYNE, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan opened Crossroads League play with two victories over Saint Francis behind hot, timely hitting on Saturday afternoon.
INSIDE THE BOX - Game 1
- Austin Swift and Tanner Killian combined for a five-hit, one-run performance including seven strike-outs and a lone walk.
- Killian also went .500 at the dish with an RBI and a run scored.
- Seven different players drove in a run in the win.
- Caleb Brenczweski went 2 for 4 with two RBI and two runs scored.
- Nick Coy launched a two-run home run for his first of the season.
INSIDE THE BOX - Game 2
- IWU came back from trailing 6-1 to tie the game and take the lead in the fourth inning.
- Saint Francis tied the game at eight in the bottom of the fourth and IWU re-gained the lead in the top of the sixth inning scoring two runs.
- The Wildcats scored four runs in the final inning to solidify the victory.
- Tanner Killian went 3 for 5 with a triple, home run (GS), four RBI and two runs scored.
- Tye Thixton went 2 for 6 with a home run, four RBI and two runs scored.
- Killian and Jake Engelkes delivered four innings of work to close the game, limiting the Cougars to one run on four hits while fanning six batters.
