LOUISVILLE, Ky. – Indiana Wesleyan baseball fell 5-2 at the hands of No.22 Indiana Southeast Tuesday. Indiana Wesleyan collected both of their runs in the seventh inning, while Indiana Southeast scored their five runs in the first five innings. IWU’s pitching held the Grenadiers in check, allowing just one hit in the final three innings.

HOW IT HAPPENED

• IWU mustered their lone two runs in the seventh inning. Chris Lopez, Blake Storr, and Bryce Ginder each singled in the top of the seventh. Jordan Wharton grounded out, pushing Lopez across for IWU’s first run.
• One batter later, Nick Coy would force IUSE into a fielder’s choice, scoring in Blake Storr.
• The Grenadiers held IWU in check through three innings, with Tanner Killian collecting the Wildcats first hit of the game in the top of the fourth.
• Max Engstrom and Austin Swift each pitched four innings, with Swift retiring 7 of the 14 batters he faced. Engstrom collected two strikeouts while IUSE used four different arms, totaling 11 strikeouts.

• We showed growth today. Max is going to be a great pitcher in our program and Austin Swift was electric striking out 7 of 14 batters faced. We defended well and our hitters put together quality at-bats. We were one swing away.

NEXT TIME OUT

• IWU hosts Saint Xavier on Saturday for a doubleheader slated for 1 p.m.
