Box Score WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan men’s basketball escaped No. 18 Grace College Tuesday, 87-85 on the heels of yet another Kyle Mangas game-winner. Missing the second free throw of a one-and-one, Tanner Rubio pushed the ball up the floor to Mangas who brought it across the timeline. Seth Maxwell would deliver a ball screen, freeing up Kyle Mangas for a game-winning dagger at the top of the three-point line.
Mangas finished the contest with 35 points, marking the 16th time the junior has scored 30 or more. The Warsaw, Indiana native is averaging 26.4 points, 4.6 rebounds, and 3.2 assists while shooting 52% from the floor when playing his hometown team!
INSIDE THE BOX
- IWU opened the contest on a 9-0 run forcing a quick Grace timeout. Grace used a 13-6 run to square things up at 15 apiece with 14 minutes left in the half.
- IWU did not shoot a free throw in the first half until the 6:07 mark when Kyle Mangas converted the old-fashion three-point play. Tim Adetukasi shot the second Wildcat free throw of the half at the 4:07 mark, also converting the old-fashion three-point play. IWU’s third and final free throw of the half was an unconverted three-point play by Kyle Mangas. Grace finished the half sinking eight of their ten free throws.
- Mangas finished the first half with a Wildcat best 18 points, while Spencer Piercfield and Seth Maxwell each added six.
- Lancers leading scoring, Deaton fouled out with four minutes to go, picking up three fouls in thirty seconds. He finished with 24 points and seven rebounds on 9-of-17 shooting.

LAST TIME THEY MEET
- IWU defeated the Pilots in their first meeting of the season, 107-102. IWU’s 107 points is the most this season, and the most since February 2, 2017, when they put up 109 against Huntington in overtime. It is the most in regulation since December 22, 2015 when they downed Governors State, 114-91.
- The first meeting between squads this season featured seven players in double figures, led by Kyle Mangas with 39.
- 52 of IWU’s 107 points in the contest came in the paint, while Bethel scored just 32 paint points.
- Noah Smith poured in a new career-high 24 points in the contest on 8-of-12 shooting. It is the second time this season the freshman has scored 20 plus in a game
- Kyle Mangas collected his 2,000th career point that game, becoming just the seventh Wildcat to accomplish the feat.
