UPLAND, Ind. – The 2019 season came to a close on Monday for the Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team in the Crossroads League Tournament. Host Taylor (Ind.) beat Indiana Wesleyan 7-3 in an elimination game as the Wildcats finish the campaign with a 22-30 record.
EARLY LEAD FOR IWU
Indiana Wesleyan led early with a Tye Thixton home run to lead off the third inning. Later in the inning, Nick Coy delivered an RBI single to score courtesy runner Jack Durham for a 2-0 advantage. IWU added another run in the fourth inning on an Ethan English sac fly to score Austin Turner.
LATE TROJAN RUNS
The Wildcats carried a 3-0 lead into the sixth inning. However, the Trojans scored seven runs in the last four innings for the 7-3 final score. The big inning came in the seventh with the Wildcats holding a 3-1 lead. The Trojans scored four times in the inning for a 5-3 lead and all four runs came with two outs in the inning.
SEASON COMPLETE
Indiana Wesleyan finishes the year with a 22-30 record. IWU went 15-12 in the Crossroads League and placed fourth in league play.
