UPLAND, Ind. – No. 5 Taylor (Ind.) scored two runs in the seventh inning to gain a 6-4 victory over No. 4 Indiana Wesleyan University baseball in the first game for both teams in the Crossroads League Tournament. Indiana Wesleyan next plays in an elimination game on Saturday vs. the No. 1-seed in the tournament Huntington (Ind.).
EARLY DEFICIT
Taylor plated four runs in the first inning for the big early lead. The Trojans took advantage of two Wildcat errors in the inning but left the bases loaded.
COMEBACK
Despite the early deficit, Indiana Wesleyan rallied with three runs in the third inning and one more in the fourth inning to tie the score 4-4. In the third inning, Caleb Eder hit an RBI double and Steven Busby provided a two-run single to cut the deficit to 4-3. In the fourth inning, Ethan English hit an RBI double to knot the score at four.
DECISIVE RUNS
The score remained tied until the Trojans took a 6-4 lead in the seventh inning. Both runs in the frame were unearned due to an error on the first play of the inning.
