MARION, Ind. – Indiana Wesleyan University baseball played a pair of games vs. league leading #RV Huntington (Ind.) on Friday night at Wildcat Field. Huntington won the opener 7-2 while Indiana Wesleyan took the nightcap 7-4. The two teams play the final game of the series at 4 p.m. on Saturday at Wildcat Field in the final game of the Crossroads League schedule.
GAME 1 – Huntington def. Indiana Wesleyan, 7-2
Brady West tied the score 2-2 in the third inning with a 2-run home run. Huntington grabbed the lead with a run in the fifth inning for a 3-2 lead and added four runs in the seventh inning for the 7-2 final score. HU produced three hits and three walks in the big final inning.
Huntington outhit Indiana Wesleyan 10-3 in the game. Besides the West home run, Austin Turner and Caleb Eder each contributed a hit for IWU.
Jon Young suffered the loss on the mound for Indiana Wesleyan. He allowed five runs on eight hits in 6.0 innings of work.
GAME 2 – Indiana Wesleyan def. Huntington, 7-4
The Wildcats scored in each of the first three innings to build a 5-2 advantage. Tanner Killian hit a 2-run double in the first inning, Brady West hit an RBI single in the second inning, and Killian and Steven Busby both had RBI singles in the third inning for the early lead.
Kyle Hall collected the victory with four runs allowed in 5.0 innings of work. Hall struck out 10 Foresters in the win. Collin Ledbetter was tremendous in relief as he earned a 4.0 inning save. Ledbetter did not allow a run or a hit in 4.0 innings and struck out seven.
The Wildcats outhit the Foresters 12-4 and was led by a four hit effort from Brad West. He finished with a home run, two doubles, and two RBI. Ethan English was 3-for-4 with a walk and a home run while Tanner Killian had a 2-for-4 effort with three RBI.
