MARION, Ind. – Caleb Eder hit three home runs on Friday to lead a potent Indiana Wesleyan University baseball power display in a 15-5 win over Bethel (Ind.) in a game that was called after seven innings. The Wildcats pounded seven home runs and 10 extra base hits on a blustery day at Wildcat Field.
HAT TRICK
The three home runs by Caleb Eder is a new Wildcat record for a single game. He now has 12 home runs this season and a program-best 33 in his career. Eder’s 12 home runs this season are just six shy of the single season program record of 18 set by Brandon Shaffer in 2016.
OFFENSIVE ONSLAUGHT
Indiana Wesleyan has scored double digit runs in three of their last four games and has averaged more than 13 runs per game in that stretch. On Friday, IWU scored three or more runs in four consecutive innings and had five players with multi-hit efforts. Caleb Eder and Tye Thixton led the Wildcats with three hit performances with both players contributing three extra base hits.
SOLID START
Kyle Hall pitched a complete game to improve to 4-4 this season. He allowed five runs but just two were earned in a 7.0 inning outing. He scattered seven hits and two walks while striking out six Pilots.
WINDY WEATHER
Winds at first pitch were measured at 26 MPH with gusts reaching to more than 40 MPH. The wind was blowing straight out at Wildcat Field.
