LEBANON, Tenn. – Cumberland (Tenn.) defeated Indiana Wesleyan University baseball in both ends of a doubleheader between teams receiving votes in the NAIA Top-25 Poll. Cumberland earned a 7-0 shutout in the opener and finished the day with a 5-3 decision.
GAME 1
Cumberland won 7-0 in the opening game and all seven runs came in the 3rd inning.
Indiana Wesleyan created scoring opportunities but left nine runners on base.
GAME 2
The Phoenix scored two runs in each of the first two innings to lead 4-1 after two. Brady West supplied the Wildcat run with a solo home run.
The Wildcats threatened in the 6th inning with two runs to narrow the deficit to 4-3. Austin Turner hit an RBI ground out and Tye Thixton added an RBI single for the pair of runs. However, the Wildcats had the bases loaded and were unable to plate the game-tying run.
Cumberland added a run in the 6th for a 5-3 score. In the 7th inning, Jordan Wharton had a one out single to bring the tying run to the plate but the next two Wildcats hit a pop up and had a strikeout to end the game.

Indiana Wesleyan plays three games next week at Martin Methodist (Tenn.) in Pulaski, Tennessee. The teams are schedule to play single games on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday.
