Wollenburg Grand Slam Lifts Baseball to Opening Game Win vs. Shawnee State

FLORENCE, Ky. – Judah Wollenburg went 3-for-3 with a grand slam in the first game of a doubleheader as Indiana Wesleyan University baseball and Shawnee State split on Tuesday. Jacob Gividen picked up a win on the mound and Kyle Hall struck out four in 2.0 innings of relief.

  • Wollenburg had two at bats in the game with two outs and the bases loaded. He had an RBI single in the 2nd inning and hit a grand slam in the 6th inning.
  • Indiana Wesleyan broke the game wide open in the 6th inning. Holding a 2-1 lead, IWU plated six runs on seven hits in the frame to extend the advantage to 8-1.
  • The Wildcats outhit the Bears, 11-4.

  • Caleb Eder delivered an RBI single in the 2nd inning to give the Wildcats a 3-2 lead.
  • The Bears plated three runs in the 3rd inning for a 5-3 lead. SSU scored the three runs on one hit, four walks, and one Wildcat error.
     

NEXT TIME OUT

  • Indiana Wesleyan plays #RV Bryan (Tenn.) this weekend in a four game weekend series in Dayton, Tennessee. The Friday doubleheader begins at 4 p.m. and the Saturday doubleheader is scheduled for 4 p.m.
