Marian Sweeps Baseball

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan baseball dropped both ends of a Crossroads League doubleheader on Tuesday at Marian (Ind.) in Indianapolis. IWU returns home on Thursday to host Goshen (Ind.) at 6 p.m.in a single 9-inning game.

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Both teams finished the game with eight hits and seven walks. IWU once again left 12 men on base.
  • Brandon Shaffer scored on a passed ball in the 1st inning and Jordan Wharton added an RBI fielder’s choice in the 2nd inning but the Wildcats trailed 3-2 after 2 innings.
  • IWU tied the score 3-3 in the 5th inning on a Marian error but the Knights regained the lead with a run in the home half of the 5th.
  • Andrew Breytenbach delivered a two run single in the 7th inning as the Wildcat captured a 5-4 advantage. MU quickly tied the score 5-5 with a run in the bottom of the 7th.
  • Indiana Wesleyan committed a pair of errors in the 10th inning which led to the walk-off win for Marian.
