Baseball Splits DH with No. 22 IU Southeast

WESTFIELD, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball used five pitchers and cracked five extra base hits in a 6-3 win over No. 22 IU Southeast on Tuesday. IWU lost the opener 7-2 to gain a split with their top-25 opponent on Tuesday at Grand Park in Westfield, Indiana.

GAME 1 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Hayden Castor hit a solo home run in the 3rd inning to cut the IUSE lead to 3-1.
  • The Grenadiers added two runs in each of the next two innings to increase the lead to 7-1.
  • Grant Thompson, Andrew Breytenbach, and Shea Durham all had two hits in the first game.
  • Caleb Eder suffered the loss on the mound with five runs on six hits in 4.0 innings.

     

GAME 2 HIGHLIGHTS

  • Indiana Wesleyan scored in each of the first five innings. All three IU Southeast runs came in the 4th inning.
  • Five of the Wildcats’ 10 hits were for extra bases.
  • Austin Swift was credited with the win while Jon Young collected 3.0 shutout innings for the save.
