MARION, Ind. -- Taylor (Ind.) defeated Indiana Wesleyan University baseball 5-0 in the only game played on Thursday at Wildcat Field in the IWU-TU Rivalry Game sponsored by Marion General Hospital. The start of the game was delayed two and a half hours due to rain and game two was postponed to Friday at 5 p.m. with impending weather on the way.

What Went Down

• IWU starting pitcher Caleb Eder (FR/North Vernon, Ind.) was stellar early as he retired the first eight batters he faced. But he fell into trouble in the 4th inning as Taylor broke a scoreless tie with two runs.
• Tim Olvaney (FR/Hemet, Calif.) entered in relief of Eder to start the fifth inning. He gave up an unearned run as Taylor led 3-0.
• Indiana Wesleyan loaded the bases in the bottom of the 5th inning but all three men were left stranded when Brandon Shaffer (JR/Albuquerque, N.M.) struck out swinging to end the threat.
• The Trojans added single runs in the 6th and 7th innings for the 5-0 victory.
• Caleb Eder (4-6) suffered the loss on the mound as he gave up two runs on three hits in 4.0 innings. Eder struck out six Trojans.
• Nick Yoder (SR/Millersburg, Ohio) finished 1-for-2 with a walk.
  
   

Next Time Out

• Indiana Wesleyan and Taylor will play a single game on Friday at 5 p.m. to complete the first doubleheader between the two schools. IWU and Taylor then play the final pair of games in the four-game set on Saturday.
