Box Score HUNTINGTON, Ind. -- Lane Mahurin (SO/Rockville, Ind.) and Bob Peters (SO/Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio) each tied a career-high in scoring tonight as No. 1-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball easily defeated host Huntington (Ind.) 93-62 in Platt Arena.
Mahurin matched his career-high of 24 points while Peters also did so with 22 points. The super sophomores combined to shoot 16-of-24 from the field and 11-of-14 from the foul line. Mahurin also contributed six rebounds, five assists, and four blocked shots while Peters finished with three assists and three steals.
Indiana Wesleyan (23-2, 11-2 CL) led 39-26 at the half and blew the game open early in the second half. IWU scored 15 of the first 17 points to increase their lead to 54-28 with more than 15 minutes to play. Huntington would get no closer than 20 points the rest of the way while Indiana Wesleyan earned its largest lead of 34 points when Aaron Murray (SO/Louisville, Ky.) finished a 3-point play for an 86-52 score.
The Wildcats shot 54.0-percent (34 of 63) from the field and 41.2-percent (7 of 17) from beyond the arc. DJ Bettinger (SR/Richfield, Ohio) scored nine points while Tyler Greathouse (SR/Columbus, Ind.), Nate Bubash, and Jacob Johnson (FR/Mooresville, Ind.) all scored eight points. Johnson pulled down a career-best 11 rebounds as the Wildcats out-rebounded the Foresters 46-27.
Huntington (14-11, 4-9 CL) was limited to 34.5-percent (19 of 55) shooting and committed 16 turnovers. They were led by Trevor Lucas off the bench with 20 points.
Indiana Wesleyan will next play at 3 p.m. on Saturday as the Wildcats travel to Mount Vernon Nazarene (Ohio).
