Box Score ELGIN, Ill. -- The shots kept falling for No. 2-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University men’s basketball in an 89-75 victory at Judson (Ill.) on Tuesday night in Elgin, Illinois.
Indiana Wesleyan (6-1) shot a blistering 59.6-percent (28 of 47) from the field and 54.5-percent (12 of 22) from 3-point range to earn the road victory. IWU was especially efficient in the first half as they hit 68.2-percent (15 of 22) of their shots and 66.7-percent (8 of 12) from deep in building a 47-32 halftime lead.
The Wildcats never trailed tonight and scored the game’s first 10 points. The Eagles (3-5) responded with a 12-3 run to close the gap to one point at 13-12. IWU did not surrender the lead and scored 24 of the next 33 points to extend the advantage to 37-21.
Indiana Wesleyan held a 47-32 lead at halftime but Judson pulled the score back to single digits at 54-45 with 15:25 left in the game. Zac Vandewater hit a 3-pointer two possessions later to put IWU up 57-45 and the lead would be double figures the rest of the evening. Over the final 14:45 of the game, Indiana Wesleyan held a lead between 11 and 17 points.
Jordan Weidner paced the Wildcats with a game-best 21 points. He was 5-of-8 shooting and 9-of-10 from the foul line. Vandewater added 14 points, Lane Mahurin scored 12 points off the bench, and DJ Bettinger finished with 11 points.
Seven Wildcats connected on a 3-point shot in the victory. Bettinger and Vandewater each nailed three of them while Weidner finished with two. RJ Mahurin, Garvin Haughey, Kylan Dubbels, and Lane Mahurin all hit a single shot from range.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to Luckey Arena for their next game which will be at 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 23 versus Cincinnati Christian (Ohio).
