MARION, Ind. -- University of Saint Francis (Ind.) advances to the Mid-Central College Conference Baseball Tournament final site as USF defeated Indiana Wesleyan University 3-2 to win the MCC Play-In Series 2-1.

Indiana Wesleyan (19-32) will still host the six-team, final site tournament despite not earning a spot in the postseason tournament. Taylor (Ind.) University, Marian (Ind.) University, Spring Arbor (Mich.) University, Huntington (Ind.) University, Bethel (Ind.) College and Saint Francis will play the double elimination tournament on May 4-6 at Wildcat Field.

The Wildcats fell in the decisive game three on Monday despite outhitting the host Cougars 10-5.

Starting pitcher Jeremy Worrell pitched well for Indiana Wesleyan in the complete game loss. He allowed three earned runs on five hits and five walks while striking out five.

Saint Francis (19-35) scored single runs in the second and third innings to lead 2-0. IWU leftfielder Craig Dollens jacked a solo home run in the sixth to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. Saint Francis answered with a run in the bottom half of the sixth to lead 3-1. The final run of the game came off a Peter Engle sac fly in the eighth.

Indiana Wesleyan centerfielder CJ Sandmann reached first with one out in the ninth. But catcher Alex Ridlen hit into a line drive double play to close the game and the series.

Second baseman Brice Davis was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate and Dollens finished 2-for-4 with two runs and a RBI.

The MCC Tournament begins at 10 a.m. on Wednesday in Marion.
