PHOENIX, Ariz. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball won its first two games during their spring break trip in Phoenix, Arizona on Monday with a doubleheader sweep of Trinity International (Ill.) University.

The Wildcats took game one in an easy 12-3 fashion. IWU took the nightcap in a late come from behind 3-2 contest.

Senior Derek Freds opened the scoring Monday with a first inning RBI single. IWU added two more runs in the third inning when sophomore Quinn Nofziger hit a RBI single and he later scored on an error following a steal of second. IWU led 3-0 after three innings.

Sophomore Craig Dollens singled home the fourth Wildcat run in the fourth. In the fifth, Freds had a two-run triple and scored on a Brice Davis single as Indiana Wesleyan held a 7-0 lead.

Indiana Wesleyan (3-7) poured on three more runs in the sixth behind four stolen bases in the inning. The big at bats in the sixth for IWU were a two run single by sophomore Peter Engle and a sac fly from Davis. Trinity International finally got on the scoreboard with a pair of runs in the sixth as IWU held a 10-2 advantage.

The Wildcats added their final two runs of the game in the top of the seventh off a sac fly from junior CJ Sandmann and a run off a wild pitch.

In game two, Trinity International (2-4) quickly took their first lead on Monday with a single run in the top of the first. They doubled their lead with another single run in the fourth for a 2-0 advantage.

Indiana Wesleyan trailed by two in the bottom of the sixth before IWU exploded for three runs.

Senior Kyle Beachy began the rally with a RBI single to cut the deficit in half at 2-1. Davis tied the score at 2-2 when he crossed home plate on an error. Dollens entered the game as a pinch hitter and knocked in the eventual game-winner as Indiana Wesleyan led 3-2.

Junior Ryne Brown went the distance on the mound to earn the victory for the Wildcats.

Indiana Wesleyan returns to the diamond tomorrow with a 3:30 p.m. ET start with Northwestern (Iowa) College as IWU continues its Phoenix spring break trip.
