DAYTON, Tenn. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball captured its first win of the season Saturday morning with an 8-0 shutout of Asbury (Ky.) College at the Tennessee Valley Tournament in Dayton, Tennessee.
Sophomore starting pitcher Michael Caley pitched a complete game shutout for the Wildcats. He allowed just three hits and struck out three in his first start of the season.
Offensively, Indiana Wesleyan was led by sophomore centerfielder Quinn Nofziger and freshman shortstop Jacob Murphy. Nofziger was 2-for-4 with a double, steal and two RBI. Murphy finished 2-for-3 at the plate with an RBI. The freshman also stole home.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 1-2 on the season while Asbury evens its record at 2-2.
The Wildcats will play one more game today at the Tennessee Valley Tournament. Time and opponent to be determined.
