GOSHEN, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University is playing its best ball of the season as the regular season winds down this week.
The Wildcats earned a doubleheader sweep on the road at Goshen (Ind.) College Thursday afternoon and are currently riding a season-high six game win streak.
Indiana Wesleyan won the opening game of the doubleheader by a 3-2 margin in 10 innings. IWU completed the sweep with a 10-4 pasting in the nightcap. Indiana Wesleyan won a doubleheader over Goshen on Tuesday at Wildcat Field for the four game season sweep.
With the victories tonight coupled with Huntington (Ind.) University claiming a doubleheader sweep over University of Saint Francis (Ind.), Indiana Wesleyan leapfrogs Saint Francis for sixth place with a 10-12 record in the Mid-Central College Conference and two games left to play. IWU is now 20-31 overall.
Sixth place in the standings is critical as that spot in the MCC standings will host a play-in series to the conference tournament against the seventh ranked team. Indiana Wesleyan will host Bethel (Ind.) College in the regular season finale while Saint Francis hosts Huntington.
First pitch with Bethel is scheduled for 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 1 at Wildcat Field.
