BABSON PARK, Fla. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball dropped their Spring Break opener 6-3 to Walsh (Ohio) University at Weber International University in Babson Park, Florida.
Senior shortstop Ben Zachary and freshman center fielder Quinn Nofziger led Indiana Wesleyan offensively with a pair of hits each. Zachary was 2-for-2 with a double and a run scored while Nofziger finished 2-for-3. Senior second baseman Derek Freds collected two RBIs in the loss.
Sophomore Tim Zeigler was credited with the loss on the mound.
Indiana Wesleyan wrapped up their first day of competition in Florida with a game against host Weber International. WIU captured the 4-3 win with a pair of runs in the bottom of the sixth inning.
Nofziger and senior left fielder TJ Fletcher each had outstanding games for the Wildcats. Both outfielders were 3-for-4 with a stolen base each.
Senior Jordan Vannoy was the tough luck losing pitcher.
Indiana Wesleyan (2-4) returns to the diamond on Tuesday with a doubleheader against Weber International.
