Box Score CEDARVILLE, Ohio -- No. 3-ranked Indiana Wesleyan University women's basketball won the top-10 battle with No. 7-ranked Cedarville (Ohio) University in the Cedarville Classic finale on Saturday in Cedarville, Ohio.
Indiana Wesleyan outscored host Cedarville 39-20 in the second half to erase a six point halftime deficit.
Senior forward Elaine Hessel and senior guard Kayla Thompson led the Wildcats to the big second half victory and each were named to the All-Tournament Team. Hessel was named Tournament's Most Valuable Player.
Hessel recorded game highs of 26 points and 11 rebounds while Thompson added 11 points, six rebounds and eight assists. Junior guard Stephanie Burtch was the third and final Wildcat in double figures with 11.
Indiana Wesleyan showcased its trademark defensive pressure at Cedarville, forcing the Yellow Jackets into 35.1-percent (20 of 57) shooting and 17 turnovers.
On the offensive end, Indiana Wesleyan finished at 45.6-percent (26 of 57) shooting, including 8-of-19 shooting (42.1-percent) from 3-point range.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 3-0 this year while Cedarville stumbles to 1-1.
The Wildcats return to play on Tuesday, November 16 at No. 20-ranked IU-Southeast in New Albany, Indiana. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
