FORT WAYNE, Ind. -- University of Saint Francis (Ind.) handed the Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team their first two losses in the Mid-Central College Conference on Thursday afternoon in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The Cougars edged the Wildcats 3-2 in game one and 3-1 in the nightcap.
Indiana Wesleyan drops to 11-19 overall and 2-2 in conference play. Saint Francis ups their record to 11-13 and 2-2 in the MCC.
IWU scored two runs in the fourth inning of the first game to capture a 2-1 advantage. USF was able to rally in the seventh for the game-tying and game-winning runs for the 3-2 victory.
The Wildcats once again gained an early lead at 1-0 in the second game. But the Cougars responded with a pair of runs in the third inning to complete the sweep.
The two teams will continue play with a doubleheader on Saturday at Indiana Wesleyan. First pitch is scheduled for 1 p.m. at Wildcat Field.
