DAYTON, Tenn. - The Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team split the second day of the Bryan College Tournament in Dayton, Tennessee on Saturday.
Cedarville (Ohio) University beat Indiana Wesleyan 13-0 in the first game of the day.
Kory Hollensteiner went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead the Wildcats. Jeremy Worrell was the pitcher of record for IWU and Jonathan Bastian struck out seven in 3-2/3 innings of relief.
The Wildcats (2-6) ended the weekend with a 5-3 victory over host Bryan behind a four run fifth inning to take a 4-2 lead. IWU scored again in the sixth with Bryan adding one run in the final inning.
Steven Laake propelled the Wildcats on the mound and at the plate. Laake was 2-for-2 at the plate while providing five very strong innings on the rubber. He scattered four hits and allowed one earned run. Dan Bruckner earned his first collegiate save with three punch outs in two innings of work.
Hollensteiner went 1-for-3 at the plate but had a crucial two run hit in the fifth which gave the Wildcats the lead they would not relinquish. TJ Fletcher contributed a 3-for-4 performance with a double, a run and a run batted in.
