BATESVILLE, Ark. (Box 1, Box 2) -- Four runs in the first inning was more than enough as Lyon (Ark.) College defeated the Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team 7-2 in the first game of a doubleheader in Batesville, Arkansas.

Lyon completed the doubleheader sweep with an 8-3 win in the nightcap. Lyon (8-1) swept Indiana Wesleyan in a doubleheader on Friday as the Wildcats are now 0-4 on the young season.

Sophomore John Bastian and freshman Alex Ridlen each collected a run batted in for the Wildcats in game one. Senior Kory Hollensteiner was 1-for-1 at the plate with a pair of walks.

Indiana Wesleyan had just one hit in the game but walked eight times.

Freshman Steven Laake was the pitcher of record for IWU. He allowed seven runs in five innings of work. Sophomore Ryne Brown pitched a scoreless inning of relief.

In game two, the Scots built a big lead early with six runs in the second inning. The Wildcats scored their first run in the third, but the Scots added to more in the fourth for an 8-1 lead. IWU crossed the plate twice in the fifth for the final score of 8-3.

Indiana Wesleyan will next play at the Bryan Tournament in Tennessee on February 20-21.
