MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball scored in every inning but one in a sweep of Goshen (Ind.) College in the Mid-Central College Conference play-in series on Saturday afternoon in Marion.
The Wildcats captured seven inning run rules of 18-2 and 14-4 to advance to the six-team MCC Conference Tournament set for next week at Indiana Wesleyan.
In the opening game, Indiana Wesleyan scored all six times they came to bat to earn the convincing 18-2 victory. Senior Brandon Moore was credited with the victory on the mound as he allowed one run on three hits in five innings.
All nine Wildcats collected at least one hit and eight had multiple hit games as IWU out-slugged the Maple Leafs 19-5.
Senior shortstop Jeff Pierce had the lone three-hit performance as he scored twice and knocked in three RBIs. Senior catcher Ryan Moore was 2-for-3 with a home run while freshman designated hitter Kyle Beach finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored.
In the 14-4 nightcap, Indiana Wesleyan tallied at least one run in six of the seven innings to once again dominate the visiting Maple Leafs.
Junior center fielder Kory Hollensteiner had an explosive game to lead the offensive charge for the Wildcats. He was 5-for-6 with two home runs and seven RBIs. Senior third baseman Brandon Beachy ended the contest 2-for-4 with a pair of doubles. He scored twice and had three RBIs.
Indiana Wesleyan improves to 26-19 this season while Goshen falls to 13-40.
