GOSHEN, Ind. -- The Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team swept host Goshen (Ind.) College on Wednesday night to earn a four-game season sweep of the Maple Leafs.
Indiana Wesleyan continues to swing hot bats in wins of 13-3 and 13-11. The Wildcats have now scored at least seven runs in their last six games. Five of those games IWU scored double digit runs.
Wildcat senior designated hitter Nick Millspaugh supplied the offense in the first game against the Maple Leafs (10-32, 0-20 MCC). Millspaugh crushed two home runs en route to five RBIs and three runs scored. Senior left fielder Shay Harden finished 3-for-4 with three runs and two runs batted in.
Indiana Wesleyan (23-15, 16-8 MCC) out-hit Goshen 11-5 in the contest.
The second game was much closer, but the offense once again carried the Wildcats to their fourth consecutive victory.
Junior Brandon Beachy had a huge performance in game two as he went 4-for-5 at the plate with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Also contributing for Indiana Wesleyan were senior catcher Dan Wagley and Harden.
Wagley connected for two hits with two RBIs while Harden also raked two hits and scored twice.
Freshman Jon Bastian earned the win on the mound in relief while Beachy collected his sixth save of the season.
Indiana Wesleyan returns home for a doubleheader against Huntington (Ind.) University on Thursday, April 17. First pitch is scheduled for 4 p.m.
