MARION, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University cruised to a doubleheader sweep over Goshen (Ind.) College in baseball action on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildcats crushed the Maple Leafs (10-30, 0-18 MCC) 11-2 in the opener and earned a 10-0, five inning run rule game in the nightcap.
In the first game, Josh Worrell went six innings on the mound and allowed two runs on two hits. He struck out four Maple Leafs.
IWU shortstop Jeff Pierce was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double, two runs scored and two runs batted in. First baseman Brandon Beachy had two hits with four RBIs and left fielder Shay Harden was 1-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
In the second game, Indiana Wesleyan (21-15, 14-8 MCC) jumped all over Goshen as the Wildcats plated six runs in the opening stanza. IWU added three more runs in the second and one in the third to capture the 10 run victory in five innings.
Freshman Kreigh Hirschy was sharp on the mound for Indiana Wesleyan. He went all five innings and allowed three hits to earn the victory.
Center fielder Kory Hollensteiner tallied three hits and knocked in two runs to highlight a balanced offensive attack as seven players recorded RBIs. Left fielder Shay Harden, Beachy and catcher Dan Wagley all earned two hits in the game.
Indiana Wesleyan will play Goshen again on Wednesday, April 16 at Goshen College.
