MARION, Ind. -- Taylor (Ind.) University used a big inning in each game to complete a doubleheader sweep over Indiana Wesleyan University in Mid-Central College Conference baseball action on Friday night.
A 10 run inning propelled the Trojans to a 15-10 win in game one and a nine run inning in game two was more than enough for a 15-7 victory.
In the opening game, Indiana Wesleyan raced out to a 9-3 lead after three innings of play. The Wildcats led 9-5 after five innings, but fell apart in the sixth. Taylor put up a 10 spot in the inning as IWU was forced to use three different pitchers as the Trojans won 15-10.
Senior left fielder Shay Harden racked up three hits and knocked in two RBIs. Sophomore third baseman Ben Zachary was 2-for-5 with a pair of RBIs.
IWU senior starting pitcher Brandon Moore allowed six runs -- three earned -- in 5-1/3 innings. He struck out 10 in a no decision.
The nightcap once again saw an Indiana Wesleyan lead vanish due to a big offensive inning for Taylor. IWU led 6-3 through four innings, but the Trojans rallied with a nine run fifth inning to capture a 12-6 lead en route to the 15-7 victory.
Junior centerfielder Kory Hollensteiner was 2-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored. Harden also raked two hits while knocking in two.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the diamond at 1 p.m. on Saturday, April 12 as the Wildcats travel to play Goshen (Ind.) College.
