INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- Indiana Wesleyan University baseball won their fourth consecutive game with a convincing doubleheader sweep at Marian (Ind.) College on Tuesday afternoon.
The Wildcats (16-10) improve to 9-3 in the Mid-Central College Conference with wins of 13-3 and 15-4 over the host Knights. IWU completes a four-game season sweep of Marian after a doubleheader sweep on Saturday.
Senior Brandon Moore improved to 6-1 on the mound with six strong innings for Indiana Wesleyan. Moore allowed two runs on five hits and two walks. He struck out seven Marian batters.
Junior first baseman Brandon Beachy led the Indiana Wesleyan offensive attack with a 3-for-5 performance at the plate with four runs batted in. Senior designated hitter Nick Millspaugh was 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs.
IWU out hit Marian 12-6 in the opening game.
Indiana Wesleyan continued to score plenty of runs in the 15-4 nightcap. The Wildcats rapped out 15 hits in the contest while Marian (7-15, 3-8 MCC) could only muster five.
Freshman Derek Freds tallied three hits to guide the Wildcats. Senior catcher Ryan Moore was 2-for-4 at the plate with a pair of doubles and four RBIs. Reigning MCC Player of the Week, senior left fielder Shay Harden, completed the game with a 2-for-5 performance with two RBIs.
Freshman Jeremy Worrell earned his first collegiate win on the mound with four solid innings. Worrell gave up three runs on five hits. He struck out two and did not allow a walk.
Indiana Wesleyan returns to the diamond at 1 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, as the Wildcats travel to play MCC foe Bethel (Ind.) College in Mishawaka, Indiana.
