Marion, IN (March 28, 2008) ? The Indiana Wesleyan University baseball team lost 10-0 and 6-3 to NAIA No. 9 Spring Arbor University in their Mid-Central College Conference doubleheader Friday.
The Wildcats (12-10, 5-3) could not manage a run in the first game, while they surrendered nine runs in the fourth inning alone in a 10-0 loss.
The Cougars? Jesse Bachman picked up the win, while IWU?s Kreigh Hirschy was given the loss in the first game.
IWU had a chance to cut into the SAU lead in the second game with bases loaded and only one out in the top of the seventh trailing only 6-3 with junior Brandon Beachy up to bat. Beachy hit a line drive right at Spring Arbor?s third baseman, who made the catch and stepped on third for the force out to end the game.
IWU?s Kyle Mock was the second game?s losing pitcher, while Cody Sharp earned the win and Jeff Tervo picked up a save for Spring Arbor.
The Wildcats continue MCC play Saturday, March 29, as they host Marian College at 1:00 p.m.
