Coverstone Leads Men?s Basketball to NCCAA Semifinals

OAKLAND CITY, Ind. -- Sophomore center Zach Coverstone?s double-double guided the Indiana Wesleyan University men?s basketball team to a 78-68 victory over Geneva (Pa.) College in the National Christian College Athletic Association quarterfinals in Oakland City, Indiana.

Coverstone earned his eighth double-double of the season with 16 points and a game best 15 rebounds. He also blocked four Golden Tornado shot attempts.

The first 14 minutes of the contest saw five ties and five lead changes as the teams were knotted at 19 points a piece. But the top-seeded Wildcats exploded over the next four minutes of the game with a 15-2 run which led to a 38-26 halftime advantage.

Indiana Wesleyan (21-11) pushed their lead to as high as 18 points in the second half of play. Geneva was able to cut into the IWU lead, but never got it below nine points.

With No. 8-seed Geneva (13-13) trailing by nine points and a minute and a half to play, Indiana Wesleyan put the game out of reach with four of five free throws down the stretch.

Junior guard Antonio Murrell joined Coverstone with a team-high 16 points. He also added five assists. Freshman forward Will Hubertz chimed in with 15 points and sophomore guard Spencer Harris contributed 14 points and five assists.

Indiana Wesleyan out-rebounded Geneva by a 39-31 margin and only committed nine turnovers in the game, with only three coming in the second half.

The Wildcats advance to the NCCAA semifinals at 6 p.m. ET on Wednesday, March 19. Indiana Wesleyan will play the winner of No. 4-seed Dallas Baptist (Texas) University and No. 5-seed Asbury (Ky.) College.
