IWU Wins Fifth Straight

CRAWFORDSVILLE, Ind. ? The 66-62 victory over Wabash (Ind.) College pushed the Indiana Wesleyan University men?s basketball win streak to five games.
 

The fifth-ranked Wildcats improve to 6-1 for the season as Indiana Wesleyan went unbeaten at the Little Giant Tip-Off Classic in Crawfordsville, Indiana. Wabash is now 1-1.

 
The Wildcats trailed by as many as 11 points (24-13) in the first half. Indiana Wesleyan cut into that deficit with a 14-3 run, but Wabash led 32-30 at intermission.
 
Wabash pushed their lead to eight points with 14 minutes remaining in the game. A 15-2 Indiana Wesleyan run over the next four minutes gave the Wildcats a 49-44 advantage. IWU pushed their lead to 10 points at 56-46 with just under eight minutes remaining before Wabash charged to a 12-2 run to knot the score at 58-58 with 3:31 left on the clock.
 
The Wildcats never relinquished the lead and scored eight of the final 12 points to escape with the 66-62 victory.
 
Indiana Wesleyan connected on 61.9-percent (13 of 21) of their shots in the second half and 52.3-percent (23 of 44) for the contest.
 
IWU was led by tournament MVP, junior Antonio Murrell, with 19 points, three assists and three steals. Sophomore Spencer Harris also made the All-Classic team as he finished the night with 14 points, five rebounds and three steals.
 
Junior Ryan Hetrick hit double digits in the scoring column with 17 points on 7-of-12 shooting. Sophomore Zach Coverstone chipped in with eight points, seven rebounds and five blocked shots.
 

Indiana Wesleyan returns to action at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 20, as the Wildcats host Trinity International (Ill.) University in Luckey Arena.
