MARION, Ind. - Indiana Wesleyan Football running back Ryan Whitwell was named the Mid-States Football Association (MSFA) Mideast Special Teams Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first time he has claimed the honor this season, and the fifth MSFA weekly award for the Wildcats this year.

Whitwell ran for a career-high 243 yards in a 59-17 win over St. Xavier. He put up the 2nd-most rushing yards in a game for a Wildcat, scoring touchdowns on runs of 39 and one yards. He also averaged 9.0 yards per carry on 27 touches.

IWU will be off next week, but will return to Wildcat Stadium on October 3 against Judson at 12:00 p.m.
