GREENTOWN, Ind. — Indiana Wesleyan Men's Tennis celebrated their seniors with two wins against Lawrence Tech University and Taylor University on Saturday. The Wildcats took down the Blue Devils in the first match, 4-0, then recognized
Carter Poquette,
Max Holliday, and
Isaiah Hostetler for their contributions to the Men's Tennis program. Afterwards, IWU downed Taylor 5-2 in the evening.
Lawrence Tech took the first doubles match but
Carter Poquette and
Isaiah Hostetler responded with a win at no. 3 doubles.
Valentino Trento and
Timo Fischer captured the doubles point for IWU with a 6-3 win. In singles, Fischer took the first match by a score of 6-1, 6-3. Then,
Matheus Lima won decisively at no. 1, 6-1, 6-2.
Michail Klinkov secured the clinching point at no. 2 singles with a score of 6-4, 6-3.
After the senior day festivities, the Wildcats started strong by sweeping the doubles matches against cross-town foe, Taylor. Lima and Klinkov looked strong with wins at the singles no. 1 and 2 spots respectively to extend the lead to 3-0. Taylor collected their first point at no. 3 singles but Fischer clinched the match with a 6-1, 6-2 decision.
Isaiah Hostetler won a battle at no. 5 singles and the Trojans won at the no. 6 spot to finish the match, 5-2.
