MARION, Ind. —
No. 20 Indiana Wesleyan Women's Tennis took on No. 24 Bethel University on Wednesday morning and won in a close 4-3 battle.
Lauren Dick and
Meribel Jarna started the match with a win at no. 3 doubles, but the Pilots took the other two doubles matches to earn the point. After doubles were done, the match was moved to Greentown due to the rain.
Picking up where they left off, the top 25 teams started the singles round. Bethel won at no. 2 singles to extend their lead to 2-0.
Sofia Munoz gained IWU's first point with a 3 set win at no. 1 singles, 6-3, 3-6, 6-2.
Nicole Puga followed up with another point at no. 4 singles, 6-1, 6-3. The Pilots went up 3-2 with another 3 set match at the no. 3 spot. Needing both of the final points, IWU relied on
Maria Oliveira and
Lauren Dick to pick them up. Oliveira finished first, tying the match at 3 with her victory at no. 5. Dick completed the comeback with a decisive 6-0, 6-0 win and gave the Wildcats a top 25 victory.
